British Committee for Standards in Haematology (BCSH)

The British Committee for Standards in Haematology (BCSH) is a sub-committee of the Society. It has four Task Forces covering Haemato-Oncology, General Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Haemostasis and Thrombosis. These Task Forces produce recommendations and guidelines on different topics and these are published at regular intervals. These are listed under BCSH Guidelines.

Scientific Sub-Committee

Chairman: Dr A Irvine
The Science Sub-Committee is established to promote Science in Haematology. This Sub-Committee manages the Science Haematology Forum (SHF) comprising those Society members who are involved in the practice of Clinical, Biomedical and Academic Science in Haematology.

Paediatric Sub-Committee

Chairman: Dr Angela E Thomas
Secretary: Dr Georgina A Hall
The Paediatric Sub-Committee manages the Paediatric Haematology Forum which comprises those Society members who are involved in the care and study of childhood blood disorders. The members of the Paediatric Sub-Committee embrace all areas of paediatric haematology and, in addition, other appropriate professional bodies are represented.

Scientific Advisory Panal

Chairman: Professor Ken Mills
The Scientific Advisory Panel co-ordinates and promotes state of the art aspects at scientific meetings and comprises a selected group of people active in all fields of clinical and academic research in haematology. They act as specialist advisers to meeting organisers and, in particular, to the President of the year and suggest future meeting topics. They also review grant applications.
