Objectives of the Society
These are to advance the practice and study of haematology and to facilitate contact between persons interested in haematology.

The Society promotes these objectives by:

  • Holding scientific meetings which are co-ordinated by the Scientific Sub-Committee.
  • Publishing Guidelines from the British Committee for Standards in Haematology.
  • Offering Scientific Scholarships for younger doctors and scientists in the discipline and Student Scholarships for medical electives in Haematology.
  • Being an active participant of the International Society of Hematology (ISH) and the International Council for Standardization in Haematology (ICSH).
  • Publishing regular Bulletins.
  • Having the BJH as its official Journal.
  • Providing financial support to Regional and National Scientific Meetings.
  • Having representatives on relevant committees of the Royal College of Pathologists, Royal College of Physicians and the Joint Committee on Higher Medical Training.
