Student Haematology Masterclass: Essentials for Finals

Haematology is often seen as difficult, yet problems occur daily on the wards and in general practice and a good level of knowledge is vital.  This day will cover: general; malignant; transfusion and coagulation haematology with lectures and tutorials given by experts in their field.

RCP now accepting applications for the 2011 Linacre Lecture

The Royal College of Physicians is now accepting applications to deliver the 2011 Linacre Lecture.

Applicants must be Members or Fellows of the Royal College of Physicians who are under the age of 40 on the closing date for applications of 30 September 2010.

New grants programme open to specialist nurses working in haematology

The Burdett Trust for Nursing and the Roald Dahl Foundation have become partners to launch ‘Different Disciplines, Common Experience’ which provides grants of up to £7,500 to enable specialist nurses in the fields of paediatric neurology and haematology to improve the quality of care available to children living with serious medical conditions in the UK.

A total grant fund of £150,000 is available over 3 years and the programme will enable up to 30 specialist nurses to deliver nurse-led projects.  The projects will improve the quality of patient care and increase nurse leadership skills.

Projects are likely to include small-scale action research, protocol development and testing of innovative nurse-led interventions.
