BSH Early-Stage Research Start-up Grants

To support: consumable expenses for projects which will potentially lead to full grant proposals.

Maximum amount: £7000.  

Application details: There is no set application form, but they should include all relevant supporting information including a research plan, budget, previous relevant research, short curriculum vitae of the applicant(s) and a letter of support from the Head of Department.  These will be reviewed by members of the Scientific Sub-Committee and also external reviewed.

Eligibility criteria: maximum of one grant per person.

Deadline: none; applications can be made at any time.

Number of grants available per year: 10.

Applications are welcome from: young investigators to give them the opportunity to follow a research plan leading to a full grant application.

Sponsorship: The applicant must be a current BSH member.

Afterwards: A report on the outcome of the research supported by the BSH Start-up grant is required within eight weeks of completion of the grant activity including indicating if further funding has been obtained on the basis of the grant.
