The remit of this committee is to promote the teaching of haematology. A curriculum for medical students has been developed and will be available on the student section of the BSH website. Supportive educational material including questions, e-learning links and podcasts will be added to the site.
The first national haematology education day for students was held at St Thomas’s Hospital in October. This was fully booked by 100 students with a waiting list. The day was very successful and more such days will be held in 2011.
Further plans are to run a teaching day for students on leukaemia in February 2011 and offer teaching and training days for general practitioners and junior doctors in the first two years of their training.
