Support for ACCEA Awards

Source: BSH

The BSH is recognised by the ACCEA as an official nominating body. We therefore invite applications from members for support for National Awards, ie Bronze, Silver or Gold.

The Society is not able to support candidates for Platinum awards or local awards for which different systems apply. The Society is however able to support applicants in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Applications must be made on the attached documents; no other information (CV etc) will be considered. It is relatively straightforward to copy and paste information from these documents into the online ACCEA system. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have separate systems and applications for BSH support may be made on the relevant national forms.

Please note that these forms are for use by the Society only and that formal application for higher awards can only be made using the ACCEA online system.

Bronze or Silver candidates may choose to submit ONE of the Supplementary forms with their application form. Gold candidates may choose to submit up to TWO of the forms below:

• Research/Innovation

• Teaching/Training

• Management/Leadership

Should a candidate choose to submit a supplementary form, the corresponding domain in the application form must be left blank.

The Society will follow a formal procedure as required by the ACCEA. Applications will be considered by a panel comprising the BSH President, Immediate Past President, Treasurer and Secretary together with the Chair of BCSH, a lay member and three consultants who do not hold any national awards (at least one of whom has experience of BCSH). They will be scored according to the scheme detailed on the ACCEA website. Applicants may wish to draw particular attention to work done on behalf of the Society. The ACCEA advises that consultants who successfully apply for a national award normally have at least a Level 4 Local CEA and have been in post for at least 10 years. Therefore consultants who have been in post for less than 10 years or who do not hold a Level 4 local award or greater will only receive support from the Society in exceptional circumstances. Consultants in this position are advised to concentrate on the local award process.

The BSH ranking panel meeting is planned for mid-October and all applications for support must be made by 5pm on Friday 24th September 2010.

Applications will only be considered when submitted on the standard ACCEA forms, which can be downloaded from the links below and sent by e-mail to the BSH Administrator:

Daphne.Harvey@b-s-h.org.uk.

As mentioned previously applicants from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland may use separate forms.

No additional information will be considered and the form should not be accompanied by any employer citations.
