COMMITTEES


bsh

The Trustee Board is the governing body of the Society and responsible for overseeing the running of all aspects of the Society’s work. 

It meets quarterly and is led by the President of the Society, who chairs Board Meetings. 

The Board consists of the Officers, namely: President; Vice-President; Treasurer; Secretary; Scientific Secretary and Immediate Past President; of elected and co-opted trustees and other appointees.

The Society has various Sub-Committees:


British Committee for Standards in Haematology (BCSH)

BCSH provides up to date advice to both clinical and laboratory haematologists on the diagnosis and treatment of haematological disease by the production of evidence-based guidelines. Chair: Professor Mary-Frances McMullin.


Education

The subcommittee provides including training days for medical students, an under graduate section on the BloodMed and BSH websites, and an annual essay prize. Chair: Dr Tim Littlewood, Oxford. It also oversees the BSH's days for haematology trainees.


Paediatric

Represents and promotes the interests of paediatric haematologists. The Paediatric Haematology Forum (PFH) embraces all areas of paediatric haematology and has representatives from all appropriate professional bodies. Chair: Elizabeth Chalmers, Glasgow.


Laboratory Science

Represents and promotes the interests of Clinical Scientists working in haematology and runs the Clinical Science Forum. Chair: Dr David Stirling, Edinburgh.


Science Advisory Panel

The Scientific Advisory Panel of the Society is a selected group of scientists and clinicians who are active in all fields of research in haematology. Chair: Dr Rebecca Auer, London.
